friendsnowrunandhideassoonasIbroachthesubject.Ithasbeeneightyearsof
ideas,andgatheringitemsinlotsofthreesormore.
Lastmonth,wehostedafundraisingdinnerformydaughter'sschoolatournewhouse
(yeshousenumberfivein12years).Isold40ticketstoasit-down,four-coursedinner.
BelieveitornotIhadenoughplacesettings,flatwearandwaterandwineglassesto
doallthis!SoI-andsixvolunteers-setthetablesthatafternoon.Mylivingroom
becameadiningroomfor13,andourentirehousetransformedintoarestaurantfor40.
ChefJohn(myhusband),andhisladiesinwaiting,hitthegroundrunning.
Wewelcomedourfirstguestsastheypulledupinfrontofourhouseinalimousine.
Agroupwascelebratingtheirmom's70thbirthdayandboughtticketstothisevent.
Othersarrivedsoonafter,aswegreetedeachguestwithaglassofsparklingKir
Royale.thenitwasshowtime:soup,salad,entrČeanddessertandwesaidgoodbye
tothelastguestat10:30p.m.Wethensatdowntodinnerat11p.m.eventhoughwe
weretootiredtoeat.
Itwasexhilarating!Butthenextmorning,IfeltIhadbeenrunoverbyabus.Myfeet
hurtandmylegsweresostiff,myrestaurantdebutandfinaleallhappenedinone
night.thepointIamfinallygettingtois...thiswasagoodlessonformewhohas
wantedaB&Bforyears.Yes,Iwasevenplanningtodoeventsandreceptions.Butthe
workandtheorganizingforthiseventtaughtmethatthereisaheckofalotofworkto
runningaB&B,andthis,Ithinkwasjustthetipoftheiceberg.
Somydesirehaswaned.........fornow!
