Owner Sue Eisert says, “Remember this is one of my grandmother’s recipes handed down, so you may have to adjust some of the ingredients to taste. What ever works best for you!”

Ingredients

1 bag Granny Smith Apples (about 8 cups peeled and sliced)
Cinnamon to taste
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup water

Topping

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup old fashion dry oatmeal
2 cups sugar
1/2 cup of butter, melted

Method

Preheat oven to 350°F. Place apples, salt, and water in a 13×9 greased glass-baking pan. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon to taste (about 4 tbsp), and set aside. Mix topping ingredients until crumbly. If too soft, add more flour or oats. Cover apples with topping and bake at 350°F for 40 to 60 minutes until apples are tender, not mushy! Goes great with ice cream.
